Computerized Inventory Management Video - Getting Started with Computerized Inventory Management
|
This short video by Julie Floen of Professional Materials Management, Inc. (PM2) will introduce you to computerized inventory management. This allows companies to better manage their spare parts inventory by building inventory parts databases, setting up efficient stockrooms, and providing expert materials management advice.
Please join eMaint partner Professional Materials Management as they outline the steps involved in setting up an inventory tracking system for managing spare parts.
This video will also demonstrate how this process can improve overall maintenance productivity, using real life success stories as examples.
This recording is one of the Maintenance and Reliability Best Practices Webinars that eMaint hosts each month with different industry partners. We offer these webinars to our customers as a free value-added service. Please contact us if you would like to receive announcements of upcoming Best Practices webinars.

80% of all CMMS implementations have failed!
|
| |
"The statistics are startling - up to 80 percent of all computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) implementations have failed. When considering the costs associated with a CMMS project, an 80 percent failure rate is a tough number for any company to overcome."
- ReliablePlant Blog (April 2009)
"It's scary when you think that anywhere from 40 to 80 percent of these (CMMS) implementations wind up not meeting expectations."

"The real significance of the SaaS movement is that it fundamentally changes the vendor-customer relationship. SaaS shifts the responsibility of successfully deploying and maintaining software applications from the customer to the vendor. This moves the burden to the vendor to ensure the success of the application."
"If a SaaS solution doesn't work, customers are not obligated to continue to use it because they haven't made a significant upfront capital investment that needs to be amortized. Instead, vendors are under more pressure to ensure their solutions satisfy their customers' requirements or they risk abandonment."
"An indication of the success of this new vendor-customer relationship is the impressive customer satisfaction, renewal and referral levels in the SaaS market."

What are CMMS and EAM Software?
|
| |
A CMMS software package maintains a computer database of information about an organization's maintenance operations, i.e. CMMS - computerized maintenance management system. This information is intended to help maintenance workers do their jobs more effectively (for example, determining which machines require maintenance and which storerooms contain the spare parts they need) and to help management make informed decisions (for example, calculating the cost of machine breakdown repair versus preventive maintenance for each machine, possibly leading to better allocation of resources). CMMS data may also be used to verify regulatory compliance. CMMS packages can produce status reports and documents giving details or summaries of maintenance activities and trends. A CMMS is a vital component of an Enterprise Asset Management system as it helps you optimize your maintenance resources and improve your return on assets.
